此曲為美國著名的錄音室音樂家團隊 ( Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section ) 的成員George Jackson和Thomas E. Jones III所寫，並由George Jackson來主唱錄製示範帶，錄完後覺得都還不錯，唯一的問題是主唱Jackson是位老黑，Bass手David Hood認為老黑的聲音不太具有「搖滾」的味道，和吉他手商議另找了位年輕歌手來代唱，並將原示範帶的聲音置換。
美國歌手Bob Seger當時正在錄他的專輯《Stranger In Town》，收到此曲的示範帶後頗為喜歡，唯將歌詞部份做了大幅度的修改，後分別與他的專屬樂隊The Silver Bullet Band及原錄示範帶的樂手錄唱多次，而均不滿意，最後還是依樣將Seger的聲音置入示範帶中才終算成功。專屬樂隊The Silver Bullet Band原本很不喜歡專輯中的這首歌，認為並非他們的風格，後在歐洲巡迴演唱時看到觀眾熱烈的反應，才終於接受。此曲於1979在告示牌熱門排行榜達到第28名。
1983，由阿湯哥Tom Cruise主演的電影《Risky Business》( 台譯：保送入學 )，片中阿湯哥穿著襯衫內褲，隨著此曲大跳其舞。此片預算USD620萬，卻大賣超過USD6300萬，被認為是阿湯哥的「一炮而紅」之作。此曲也跟風再次發行，仍打進排行榜獲得第48名。

Bob Seger雖然修改了歌詞，但並未要求歌詞的著作權，當時應該是不想打壞和「寫歌團隊」之間的關係。由於對此曲無控制權，後此曲被用作連鎖食品的廣告歌曲，Seger雖感不悅卻也無能為力。多年後談到當時未爭取著作權之事，說是他曾做過最愚蠢的事。
